I went to see Dr Josh about an old arm injury from a few years back. I was in pain daily and my hand would often go numb. I had 2 cortisone shots and was recommended to not use my arm and that eventually I would need surgery. Dr Josh was great at explaining what he found during my consultation and gave me workouts to take home. Because I live over an hour away he was clear and reasonable with expectations. After 3 weeks of doing exercises I am still seeping comfortably and my hand has not gone numb once, and I am using my arm in daily tasks again! I highly recommend giving Breaking Through a try, you won’t be sorry!!
I suffer from chronic back pain (ruptured two discs in lower back 10 years ago). I re-injured my back last week while working out to the point where it was hard to walk, sit, stand, and basically move. My pain was so bad that I had to take a break from working out, which wasn’t good for my own mental health. I decided to try Breaking Through. I have had one session so far with Evan and seriously I feel like a new person. The next day I was back at the gym working out to full strength and stamina. It’s amazing how much he has helped me! Thank you Evan! If you are suffering from pain and limited on what you can do than give them a call!
I'm the mom of an eight year old girl with CP. My strong willed daughter never fit neatly into any system. Doctors and therapists told me that she has great potential but no one was able to tap into her full abilities. Despite adding more weekly therapy sessions, my daughter's leg muscles tightened through the years. We tried muscle relaxant medication and spent hours trying to find a perfect orthotic solution so she could walk without tripping on her feet. We ended up with heavy HKAFOs, which straightened her gait while locking her into poor muscle patterns, which resulted in more muscle tightness. We sought second and third opinions but no one had solutions beyond medication. I was told that my daughter is complex.
I had always heard amazing things about intensive therapy. I questioned if any therapist could work beyond challenging behaviors to help my daughter. When we met Josh, his perspective was different from anything we had experienced. We did a series of intensives last summer. Some of the sessions were ugly but Josh found a way to cut through impassable behavior barriers and establish a relationship with my daughter built on mutual respect. Incredible physical progress followed. After the first intensive, my daughter's muscle tightness was remarkably reduced. She willingly participated in exercises at home. Relieved of physical discomfort, she wanted to explore her world. We were able to eliminate the HKAFOs and muscle relaxant medication and my daughter began to advance toward independence. We've continued intensive bursts with Josh. A year into working with Josh, my daughter is able to walk around our home barefoot without tripping and uses SMOs in the community.
What sets Josh apart as a therapist is his focus on the whole picture of a client. He gets beyond symptoms to treat the cause. Josh taught my daughter to have confidence in her abilities. By attending her sessions, I've learned alongside my daughter so I can help her at home and advocate for her in the community. Working with Josh has changed the trajectory of my daughter's life. We have experienced rapid physical gains that I never believed were possible.
We spent 3 full weeks doing intensive therapy and neurofeedback with Josh and Jen. They made us feel welcomed and at home. Most importantly we were given HOPE. Hope for our son’s future, Hope for his ability to grow and strengthen. Josh worked closely with Sawyer to tailor a program that fit HIM. He made sure to include us throughout the process so we felt comfortable leaving and continuing therapy at home (Minnesota). We talked about short term goals and long term goals and the best ways to get us there. If you are considering this physical therapy for your child, do it. You will not regret it.
Our daughter, Sam, is an adult with cerebral palsy. We had been searching desperately for a PT that was willing and able to embrace the opportunity to treat her, and we were blessed to find Josh about 8 years ago. What stood out immediately about him was his outlook. He has a broad vision to see not only where a person is at in the present moment, but also the possibility of their untapped potential. He had Sammy doing things in her very first sessions that no one had previously ever tried. He is a perceptive and independent thinker that sees each individual and their unique needs and looks for approaches that best fit them.
He is an amazing listener that allows you to openly voice not only your questions, opinions and concerns, but your heart. Dialogue is thoughtful and encouraging.
He is deeply aware of the entire dynamic of family life with a special needs child. As such, he often offers creative suggestions that make things easier for day to day living at home. To say that he thinks "outside of the box" is a grand understatement!
His years of experience have brought him to the place where he is now, the owner of Breaking Through Intensive Therapy! From the moment you walk through the door you will find it to be a warm, welcoming place where much joy is shared and healing takes on many forms. We are so grateful to Josh for all the he has done in our lives and look forward to all that is to come!
