Why did we create Breaking Through Intensive Therapy?

We have been working with kids and young adults with neurologic impairments for almost 20 years. We have been playing with the model of how to develop therapy to meet their goals and have tried many different strategies of frequency and duration.

A higher frequency/ duration is great for periods of time to develop a new skill or push through a challenge/loss of function, like those darn growth spurts.  This has been an amazing model to provide intensive options to individuals and families.

Once these skills are learned or they need to be practice through repetition, therapy does not seem to be the best fit. People without neurological impairments don’t maintain their skills or fitness through therapy.

Our vision for helping individuals practice, maintain, and improve their physical capabilities is through fitness. We intend to offer fitness options in small group settings to allow practice of skills and general fitness training.

Moving away from the weekly or monthly one on one sessions to group sessions will build a community that will support and encourage each other to ultimately push each other farther.

We are much stronger together versus working individually. We intend to help everyone who walks through our doors to “break through” the barriers or challenges they face.

Our desire is to meet this need for practice and repetition, combined with increasing challenges to fund therapy through insurance, has brought us to the creation of Breaking Through IT.

We’d love for you to be part of our community. Reach out to us today to see how we can help!
