Linear Neurofeedback

Linear neurofeedback is more commonly found and used. This type of neurofeedback is usually used to “treat” a diagnosis. The treatment usually begins with brain mapping. Brain mapping is a non-invasive and non-drug procedure used to identify any area of abnormality linked to symptoms. It is used to read what’s going on in the client’s brain without altering the client’s brain activity. Once the brain is mapped, the recordings are processed through an FDA approved database to compare them to neurotypical results for the same age group. This comparison will reveal any areas of the brain that aren’t functioning within the typical range. The results are then used to create a neurofeedback treatment protocol that’s tailored for each client’s needs. Brain mapping is considered to be an invaluable tool for creating customized treatment programs for clients with neuro physical disorders. It allows us to understand where and what kind of dysregulation is occurring and how it contributes to the client’s symptoms.

Linear Neurofeedback: Practitioner Conducts Brain Mapping

The fact that linear neurofeedback uses treatment protocols, some will argue that each brain is not created the same so how can one protocol treat every brain. In order to receive linear neurofeedback a client has to be under the care of a practitioner, who would conduct the brain mapping and administer the neurofeedback protocols. This is the main reason why linear neurofeedback is usually has high cost. The brain mapping can cost anywhere from hundreds to thousands of dollars. The session, are usually between $100-$200.

Nonlinear (NeurOptimal®)

NeurOptimal® is dynamical neurofeedback that provides the brain with the information it needs to correct itself and function at its most optimal. NeurOptimal® simply enables your own brain’s natural process of self-correction. NeurOptimal® requires no effort on the user’s part. Dynamical neurofeedback provides real-time feedback to the user. NeurOptimal® does not require a practitioner to make a diagnosis, brain mapping or set protocols. With NeurOptimal® there is no need for a diagnosis. There is no age requirement with NeurOptimal® and there are no negative side effects due to the fact that the brain is self correcting itself.

Nonlinear Neurofeedback Requires No Brain Mapping

With NeurOptimal® neurofeedback the brain is simply interacting adaptively with itself moment by moment, not striving to produce more of some frequency and less of another. NeurOptimal® is very easy to use and is safe. An educational or previous qualification is not necessary because the expertise is built into the software. The training is fully automated and responsive to the client. For all of these reasons, the cost of NeurOptimal® is much more affordable than a linear type of Neurofeedback.

Why Choose NeurOptimal®?

  • NeurOptimal® is a Dynamical Neurofeedback™ system, which means that it does not require the user to focus on a specific task or target. This makes NeurOptimal® ideal for athletes, who may need to be able to focus on their performance without having to worry about how to receive the benefits of neurofeedback.
  • NeurOptimal® has been shown to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions, including ADHD, anxiety, depression, PTSD, autism, learning disabilities, chronic pain, and insomnia. This makes NeurOptimal® a good option for athletes who may be struggling with other issues in addition to their performance.
  • NeurOptimal® is backed by a growing body of research. For example, a recent study found that NeurOptimal® was effective in improving the cognitive function of athletes with concussions.
