Sports Rehab for Cross Training
Keeping you up to speed with your CrossFit WODs, cross training or weight lifting
with our comprehensive physical training and sports rehab approach.
The unique approach to sports rehab physical training at Breaking Through is a perfect fit for most CrossFit athletes, weight lifters and those that incorporate cross training into their regular fitness routine. Athletes participating in cross training and CrossFit typically include a component of weight lifting or weight training. We know you're cross training, doing CrossFit and lifting weights to strengthen the body, improve performance in other team sports and/or avoid injury, so when you're feeling pain, decreased mobility and function or suffer from a sports injury, you're not the type of athlete who wants to rest. And we don't want you to!
Physical Therapist for CrossFit, Cross Training and Weightlifting
Our sports rehab plan takes into account the athlete's intensity and desire for strength. These intense athletes prefer the Breaking Through method of physical therapy - where we treat the whole body, rather than just the injury. We teach exercises to strengthen the weaker areas which contributing to the injury, putting the athlete in charge of their own recovery plan. We'll also go over modifications to incorporate into your WODs or weight training until full function is regained.
CrossFit Sports Rehab: Common Injuries
Breaking Through physical therapy sessions are designed to diagnose and restore normal function in the body - whether our patients come in for acute pain, chronic pain, sports injury or to improve sports performance, our approach is systematic. It can be common for CrossFit athletes to pull, strain or otherwise injure lower back, wrist, knees and shoulder. And another common injury is tennis elbow and Achilles tendonitis. With our CrossFit and weight training athletes, we find often they work around muscle soreness as part of their fitness program - making it difficult to identify which movement(s) or lift "caused" the injury. With our sports rehab approach, it doesn't matter that our patient isn't sure if the snatch, muscle-ups or heavy kettlebell swings contributed to their low back pain because we treat and diagnose the whole body with each physical therapy session.
Josh Palcic, PT, DPT
Dr. Josh explains how our bodies communicate with us by generating pain and how physical therapy sessions at Breaking Through are designed to restore your function, while decreasing your pain in less sessions and with long-lasting results.
Sports Rehab Physical Therapy Sessions: What to Expect
Your Physical Therapist begins each visit with a personal, one-to-one assessment and treatment focused on how your body moves, pain and discomfort your feeling and your individual needs. This assessment assumes nothing and will test your body's function from toes to skull during each visit. Our system will demonstrate that pain and decreased function in one area can be caused by weakness in, what would seem to be, an unrelated area. Your sports rehab will have more permanent results with fewer visits by strengthening other muscles in the body that a typical sports therapist would likely ignore.
During Each Sports Physical Therapy Session You Receive:
- An Assessment: You will perform a functional screen to determine the unique causes of your symptoms.
- Treatment: To treat the cause of your sports injury we use specific, hands-on sports rehabilitation methods followed by functional reinforcement exercises to re-educate your body.
- Re-Assessment: Performed at the conclusion of each visit. We focus on how you are moving and will assess that you are moving better than when you came in.
- Education: We spend a large portion of time teaching you how you became injured and for the prevention of future sports injuries. We then create a customized program you can use at home, work, or play that will strengthen your body faster and avoid repeat visits. We want You to become the expert of You!
WHAT THEY SAY...
What do our sports rehab and physical therapy patients say about Breaking Through?
I went to see Dr Josh about an old arm injury from a few years back. I was in pain daily and my hand would often go numb. I had 2 cortisone shots and was recommended to not use my arm and that eventually I would need surgery. Dr Josh was great at explaining what he found during my consultation and gave me workouts to take home. Because I live over an hour away he was clear and reasonable with expectations. After 3 weeks of doing exercises I am still sleeping comfortably and my hand has not gone numb once, and I am using my arm in daily tasks again! I highly recommend giving Breaking Through a try, you won’t be sorry!!
I suffer from chronic back pain (ruptured two discs in lower back 10 years ago). I re-injured my back last week while working out to the point where it was hard to walk, sit, stand, and basically move. My pain was so bad that I had to take a break from working out, which wasn’t good for my own mental health. I decided to try Breaking Through. I have had one session so far with Evan and seriously I feel like a new person. The next day I was back at the gym working out to full strength and stamina. It’s amazing how much he has helped me! Thank you Evan! If you are suffering from pain and limited on what you can do than give them a call!
