Stay Pain-Free on Vacation!

The word itself conjures images of relaxation, exploration, and creating lasting memories.

But for some, the excitement of travel can be tempered by the worry of travel-related pain and stiffness.

Long car rides, cramped airplane seats, and unfamiliar activity levels can leave you feeling sore and achy, putting a damper on your adventures...

At Breaking Through, we emphasize the importance of maintaining movement and preventing pain, no matter where your travels take you.

Here are some tips to ensure you can stay pain-free, enjoy your travels and stay strong throughout your trip.

Pre-Travel Prep to Stay Pain-Free While You Travel:

Optimize Your Body for Movement

  • Schedule a Session (if possible): Before you embark on your journey, we recommend seeing us (especially if you haven’t been in recently). We will identify any movement dysfunction or limitations that could contribute to travel-related pain. By addressing these issues proactively, you'll optimize your body's ability to adapt to new environments and activities.
  • Practice Movement: Before your trip, make sure you stay consistent with the exercises we give you. If you only start on the trip, this may actually lead to soreness since your body is not used to those movements on a regular basis.

Strategies for Pain-Free Travel:

  1. Stay Hydrated: Dehydration can contribute to muscle stiffness and fatigue. Make sure to drink plenty of water throughout your travels, especially during long journeys and in hot climates.
  2. Move Often: Sitting for extended periods is a recipe for stiffness/pain. Get up and move around frequently, especially on long car rides or airplane flights. Take advantage of layovers or rest stops to run through your exercises.
  3. Embrace Active Exploration: Opt for walking tours, bike rides, or hikes to explore your destination. This keeps your muscles engaged and your blood flowing, while also immersing you in the local culture. 😀

By following these tips, you can ensure your travels are filled with adventure and exploration, not pain and stiffness.

Remember, at Breaking Through, we're here to help you move with confidence, no matter where life takes you.
